Sandra Hanschitz: Sense (making)

I am a freelance dancer, choreographer and dance teacher as well as stage and costume designer, scenographer and graphic artist. I received my Bachelor of Arts in „Contemporary Stage Dance“ in 2011 at the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz. I have completed my Master of Arts at the TU Berlin for „Stage Design and Scenography“ in 2015.
I am working as performer and costume designer with the Freiburg choreographers Laura Heinecke & Company and Zina Vaessen.
My own works are mostly collaborative and interdisciplinary - between dance, multimedia art, fine arts, and artistry. My present work deals with the Circle - Cyrwheel - and reaches into a contemplative practice.
I am an active member of tanznetz | freiburg supporting and forming the independent dance scene in Freiburg.
My most present dance influences are Contemporary Dance, Axis Syllabus and Contact Improvisation. I am fascinated by the complexity of the human body (in motion) and its fluid state of being. In my practice I observe the correlation of Contemporary Dance and CI – dancing with humans and objects.

This CI class makes SENSE the primary focus of our meetings. Letting go of the necessity to act, to produce and to do something we rather tune into listening and surrender to what is there in between.  I invite you to examine subtleties in weight shifts and falls. Like sinus waves we can discover peaks and valleys, dynamics of acceleration and deceleration. Suspensions as time giving turning points. We are aiming to meet the interplay of tension and relaxation, the known and unknown as well as the (will to) letting go.
Whenever and wherever we touch another living organism we want to sense how far we can reach through this meeting point. What does it tell about myself and the other, the connectedness with the ground and the bodymind. Let´s make sense?
